Net Metering
Net metering is a billing arrangement with utility providers that allows homeowners with renewable energy systems, like solar panels, to receive credit for the electricity they generate but don’t use. When their system produces more electricity than their home consumes, the excess power is sent back to the grid, and the utility credits their account. The “net” difference is the balance between the energy consumed from the grid and the energy sent back, which is tracked using a bidirectional utility meter. This system helps offset energy costs and can provide significant savings for homeowners.
