Wet Bulb Thermometer

A thermometer with its bulb wrapped in a water-soaked cloth or wick. When air moves over the wet cloth, water evaporates, cooling the thermometer. The temperature it measures is called the “wet-bulb temperature.” This reading is crucial in HVAC because it helps determine the air’s relative humidity and the effectiveness of evaporative cooling processes. The difference between the wet-bulb temperature and the regular (dry-bulb) temperature can be used to find the relative humidity of the air.
