Contactor
A contactor is an electrically controlled switch used in HVAC systems to repeatedly open and close an electrical circuit. It uses an electromagnetic coil and a set of contacts. When current flows through the coil, it generates a magnetic field that pulls the contacts together, closing the circuit. This allows electrical power to flow to components like compressors, fans, or other equipment. When the coil is de-energized, the magnetic field disappears, and the contacts open, breaking the circuit. This cycling process enables the system to operate safely and efficiently.
