Condensate Pump
A condensate pump is a specialized device used in HVAC systems to remove water buildup, known as condensate, that forms during the cooling or heating processes. This water is typically produced when warm, humid air comes into contact with cold surfaces, like the evaporator coil or a condensing furnace. Instead of letting the water pool and potentially cause damage or inefficiencies, the condensate pump collects it and pumps it to an appropriate discharge location—such as a drain, a sink, or even outside the building. Condensate pumps are especially useful when the HVAC system is installed in a location where gravity alone cannot direct the water to a drain, such as in basements or areas without easy drainage access. They often include sensors to automatically activate when water levels get high enough.
