Line Set
Line sets are the copper refrigerant pipes used in split HVAC systems to connect the indoor evaporator coil to the outdoor condenser unit. They consist of two pipes: a larger suction line, which carries the refrigerant in its gaseous state back to the condenser, and a smaller liquid line, which carries the refrigerant in its liquid state from the condenser to the evaporator coil. Proper sizing and installation of the line set are crucial for system efficiency and performance. Factors such as the distance and elevation difference between the indoor and outdoor units influence the required size and insulation of the line set. An improperly sized or installed line set can lead to reduced efficiency, poor cooling or heating, and even system failure.
