Ton Refrigerant Unit
A unit used to measure the cooling capacity of an HVAC system. It represents the amount of heat required to melt one ton (2,000 pounds) of ice over a 24-hour period. One ton of refrigeration is equal to 12,000 British Thermal Units (BTUs) per hour, which is a common way to quantify the cooling power of air conditioning systems.
