Air Handler

« Back to Glossary Index

Also known as air handling unit, is a key component of an HVAC system that helps circulate and manage airflow within a building or home. It typically consists of a blower (fan), heating or cooling elements (like a coil), filters to clean the air, and sometimes additional components like humidifiers or UV lamps for air quality improvement. Residential air handlers are often paired with central air conditioners, heat pumps, or furnaces, and their main role is to distribute conditioned (heated or cooled) air through ductwork into living spaces.
