Kilowatt (kW)
A unit of power equal to 1,000 watts. In HVAC systems, kilowatts are often used to measure the power consumption of equipment such as air conditioners, heaters, and fans. For example, a 5 kW air conditioner consumes 5,000 watts of power when operating at full capacity. This measurement helps determine energy usage and efficiency.
