A media air cleaner is a type of air filtration device used in HVAC systems. It typically features a filter that is about 4 inches thick and made of pleated filter material, which increases the surface area for trapping airborne particles like dust, pollen, and pet dander. Media air cleaners are designed to provide effective air cleaning while maintaining relatively low airflow resistance, which helps protect HVAC equipment and reduces operating and repair costs. They also improve indoor air quality by delivering cleaner air throughout the home. A MERV rating of 8 to 10 is often recommended for balancing filtration efficiency and airflow. Higher MERV ratings may overly restrict airflow, potentially affecting system performance and component longevity.

2025 UPDATE: I needed Jonathan service on Friday, April 3rd. I called his office at 6:40. Jonathan arrived at my home by 2 o’clock that afternoon. From the very cordial and helpful Paradise employee who answered our after-hours, weekend phone call to the technical service provided by Jonathan and Matthew on Monday - we couldn’t be more pleased. We were informed every step of the way via text of all pertinent information including: scheduled appointment time, tech arrival time with the id’s of technicians who would be performing the work. Jonathan and Matthew arrived five minutes earlier than the one hour scheduled window (no no-shows here), did what they had to do and didn’t use weaponry to determine labor costs. Our AC was struggling a bit. Had another HVCA company come check it out first. Their recommendation was a whole new replacement unit. Bare minimum a $6000 repair job. Got a second opinion from Jonathan’s company, Paradise. All the unit needed was refrigerant. Saved us thousands !! We would recommend Paradise every day of the week and twice on Sunday.

I was extremely impressed with Paradise Air and am very glad I found them. I have a very old HVAC system they needed some ducts and a condensate pump replaced. They were extremely thorough and clearly explained everything they planned on doing. The price was excellent given how much work they had to do in the crawlspace and the extra time they spent with me advising me on how to get as much out of my old system as I could. They weren’t there to try to sell me a new system. They were there to repair what I asked them to at a reasonable price and help me extend the life of my current system.
