The condensing unit is the outdoor component of a split HVAC system, commonly found in air conditioners and heat pumps. It plays a crucial role in the system’s cooling or heating process by housing essential components such as the compressor, condenser coil, outdoor fan, and other refrigerant-related parts. These components work together to manage the flow and transformation of refrigerant, which allows the system to transfer heat efficiently.

During cooling, the condensing unit’s compressor pressurizes the refrigerant, turning it into a high-temperature, high-pressure gas. This gas flows through the condenser coil, where the outdoor fan blows air over the coil to release heat into the outside environment. The refrigerant then cools down and changes into a liquid, which travels back indoors to the evaporator coil to absorb heat from your home. In a heat pump system operating in heating mode, the process reverses – the condensing unit collects heat from the outdoor air and sends it inside to warm your home.

The performance of the condensing unit is vital for overall system efficiency, and regular maintenance, such as cleaning the coil and ensuring proper functionality of the fan and compressor, helps prevent breakdowns and ensures the system runs smoothly.

One of our AC units decided to give up, or so we thought. We had several companies come out and give us a quote to replace our unit, all exceeding $13k. Paradise came out, and instead of just giving a price to replace it, they asked if they could tinker with the equipment. They had it fixed within 10 minutes!!! Paradise gave us a quote so we have an idea of the cost for when this ancient unit ACTUALLY dies, and it was $3k-$8k cheaper than our other quotes!!! I was extremely impressed with Paradise Air and am very glad I found them. I have a very old HVAC system they needed some ducts and a condensate pump replaced. They were extremely thorough and clearly explained everything they planned on doing. The price was excellent given how much work they had to do in the crawlspace and the extra time they spent with me advising me on how to get as much out of my old system as I could. They weren’t there to try to sell me a new system. They were there to repair what I asked them to at a reasonable price and help me extend the life of my current system. Job: Disassemble and remove old attic ductwork and install new ductwork and runs. Install Accuclean air filter in both attic and main floor systems. Install new smart thermostat and attic insulation infill. 1. Honest assessment of what is needed and more importantly, what is not needed. And not just trying to sell the most expensive option. 2. Competitive and reasonable quote. 3. I asked about radiant heat treatment as an add on, but he said while they could do it, it would not have efficient results and not worth the investment since I had a high hip roof and large attic area. 4. Great work ethic and work product. Duct system, filtering system and thermostat expertly installed, set up and running effectively. 5. All interactions cordial, efficient and polite. 6. Punctual in accordance with automated notices about arrival and appointment reminders 7. Clean work - brought coverings to reduce tracking of insulation through house areas traversed. Cleaned any evidence of insulation. 8. Works relatively quietly. No loud talk or music. 9. Small footprint on street. One van. I expected van and trailer. New materials brought in, unloaded and installed while old duct system all loaded up and removed. Very efficient. Overall, fantastic experience and is highly recommended.

I had paradise come out to get me started with their paradise maintenance package, and had them take a look at my attic because we had concerns with our insulation not being adequate. They didn’t try to over sell work I didn’t need, and were honest with what exactly was needed to get us back on track. Techs Jonathan and Matthew came out for the initial inspection and service and came back to do the attic insulation. They were patient and knowledgeable (I ask a lot of questions) and took their time. They found all the places that my system was leaking (out and in) air, fixed them, and then filled the attic.
