Why Regular Preventative HVAC Maintenance is Important for Your System

When it comes to maintenance a good maintenance schedule is twice a year. Once in the fall to check everything with the heating side and then once in the spring to check everything on the air conditioning side. For a relatively small investment you can save money, breathe healthy and clean air.

Reasons Why HVAC Maintenance is so Important For Homeowners

For most of you out there it will be to save money. Your HVAC system is a well-engineered and complex system that in most homes utilizes around 50% of the consumed energy. If one stays on top of their maintenance they will ensure that their system is operating at its max performance.

Money Saving Examples of Proper HVAC Maintenance

Just about every residential heating and air conditioning system out there has a start and run capacitors in them. This is a very common part that fails on systems and in most cases the system will still run and keep you comfortable. In reality the system may be struggling to start up or not running at proper rated amp draws. This can cause the system to use more power and overheat the motors of the system.

Two other very common problems we want to stay on top of are refrigerant levels and clean indoor/outdoor coils. There again your system may seem to be working and keeping you comfortable but at a much higher cost on your utility bills. Eventually these examples will result in costly breakdowns.

It is said that regular HVAC maintenance will reduce the risk of costly breakdowns by as much as 95%. Also by keeping the system running at peak efficiency you can save up to 30% on your energy bill, according to the U.S. Department of Energy.

Extending The Life of Your HVAC System

Routine maintenance is very important to the life of your system. As mentioned before this well-engineered equipment is made up of many different parts that all have to work together.

System Longevity Example

If your system is operating with a low output run capacitor or low on refrigerant. This could cause a number of problems, one of them being compressor failure.

Keeping Your Family and Home Safe With Maintenance Service

We have all heard the serious health issues that carbon monoxide can cause. Gas Furnaces these days are designed with a lot of safety components in them. Its important for all of them to function properly. Preventive maintenance will check each and everyone of these components to ensure the safe operation of the furnace.

I’m sure you know someone or you have heard of someone coming home from work or back from vacation to a hot or cold home along with water damage due to the heater not working and the water lines frozen and busted. Or water damage due to the evaporator coil being frozen over. Maybe it was just the drain line stopped up. This lack of maintenance can cause you the homeowner thousands of dollars.

Improve your Comfort

We all depend on our heating and air system to keep us comfortable year round. There’s more to a system than blowing hot air in the winter and cold air in the summer. Your HVAC system also includes your duct work and ventilation. Do you have a room that stays too cold in the winter or one that stays too hot in the summer? Maybe it’s one whole side of your house. It could be that maybe during the summer time your house feels sticky and wet due to high humidity. These issues could be caused by improper maintenance. Regular maintenance will also minimize the chance of your HVAC system disturbing your quality of life with noises or unpleasant smells.

Improve The Air Quality In Your Home

The EPA reports that the indoor levels of airborne pollutants may be 2-5 times higher (In extreme cases more than 100 times higher) than outdoor levels. Along with routine maintenance, keeping your filter clean will decrease the airborne pollutants. There are some other practices that your HVAC technician can help you with when it comes to controlling respiratory issues like pet dander, dust mites, pollen and mold. Such as better filtration systems, ERV systems and UV lights.

One of our AC units decided to give up, or so we thought. We had several companies come out and give us a quote to replace our unit, all exceeding $13k. Paradise came out, and instead of just giving a price to replace it, they asked if they could tinker with the equipment. They had it fixed within 10 minutes!!! Paradise gave us a quote so we have an idea of the cost for when this ancient unit ACTUALLY dies, and it was $3k-$8k cheaper than our other quotes!!! They could have easily just given us a price for a new unit like everyone else. I appreciate that Paradise put forth the effort to figure out the problem, and saved us THOUSANDS!!!

Paradise has become our go-to HVAC company. We have used them for several smaller repairs and they always provides a reasonable price and didn’t try to upsell replacing our 30 year old unit before we were ready. Then, when we were finally ready to replace our unit we got quotes from Paradise and several other companies. Paradise was by far the best value not only in terms of price but also unit brand and warranty. We even ran all of the quotes through AI and his came in 1st in terms of value, price and ROI! Great company overall - can always trust them to provide great, high quality work and reasonable prices.

Gayle Wroclawski

We've been doing a complete renovation of our family home of 30 years to sell and retire. We also needed to make sure we had adequate insulation and have the ductwork inspected. I called Paradise Heating and Air, and found that this was a service they could provide. They were very responsive. I had an estimate within a few days and the job completed the following week. They fixed anything that could become a problem and blew in the amount of insulation to meet the current Hoover building code. Jonathan was so friendly, explained everything that was done and the cost was very reasonable. In fact he talked me out of insulating an area that wasn't really needed!!! I couldn't be happier with the service, and feel good that everything is secure and to code. I highly recommend Jonathan and Paradise Heating and Air!!

Dave Meyer

I was extremely impressed with Paradise Air and am very glad I found them. I have a very old HVAC system they needed some ducts and a condensate pump replaced. They were extremely thorough and clearly explained everything they planned on doing. The price was excellent given how much work they had to do in the crawlspace and the extra time they spent with me advising me on how to get as much out of my old system as I could. They weren’t there to try to sell me a new system. They were there to repair what I asked them to at a reasonable price and help me extend the life of my current system. I won’t even think of calling anyone else from now on.

Linda Thompson

Jonathan and his helper were awesome. Keeping us informed as to what they were doing as they replaced our heating and air units. They were pleasant to have around and did a great job. They not only left the areas clean they hauled off all the old equipment. We would highly recommended them to everyone.

Cynthia Belyeu

We have had Jonathan and his capable team working on our A/c and Heating for several years. They are punctual, well mannered and reasonably priced. The work they have done including an A/C replacement has always been outstanding. Plus, we have appreciated their problem solving skills in helping our remaining old units get along from year to year. We are so grateful to have them a phone call away!
